Guide.
1
Ensure a Clean Surface
Clean the cycling hat surface with an alcohol based cleaner. Allow to dry.
Residue and grim can interfere with the effectiveness of the popper's adhesives.
1
Fit Together
Unfold and fit the front and back pieces together using the overlapping cuts.
Slide the pieces together and fit the front piece over the back piece using the inset cut.
Fold all tabs upwards by 90 degrees.
2
Placement
Place the Sombrim onto the cycling helmet and centre it.
Tuck in
If helmet has a visor, the visor can be tucked into front brim pocket at this point.
3
Take your Marks*
Assess which tabs best suit your particular helmet for the placement of poppers.
Note: You will not be using all tabs - only the front 4 and rear 3 are required to secure brim.
Ideally make use of either of the 2 centre holes on tabs to facilitate removal and adjustment.
Use a marker to mark centre position through the selected tabs.
* The Sombrim can also be installed using velcro should you choose not to make use of poppers - refer hard hat installation guide.
Some helmets may benefit from the extra stability a downwards folded tab provides.
4
Peel n' Stick
Remove the Sombrim and carefully place poppers centred over marked positions.
Allow the poppers to bind to the helmet for at least 5 minutes.
5
Attachment
Install the Sombrim by attaching it to the poppers.
Assess the sturdiness of your Sombrim fit. If desired, trim the unnecessary tabs.
Attach a bandana to extend shade covering.
Need
Extra Shade?
1
Position
Turn the hat and Sombrim upside down.
With the Sombrim upside down, centre and position the bandana underneath the star tabs as shown.
2
Secure
Flip the Sombrim right-way up
Use a pen to poke the bandana through the star-shaped cut outs. This will help to keep the bandana in place.
Need
Extra Light?
Attach a headlamp to provide quality sights.
1
Position
Place the headlamp in desired position atop the Sombrim
2
Secure
Secure to brim with rubber bands or supplied bracket from headlamp.
Note: Using cable ties are not recommended as rubber bands allow for the headlamp to be detached when not required.
The Sombrim for cycling helmets enables you to do more.
